Talent Programme For Aspiring Film and TV Content Creators

MultiChoice Talent Factory programme is now open for application from suitable candidates. The call for application to be part of MultiChoice Talent Factory South Africa Academy has commenced. MultiChoice Group has announced that the M-Net Magic in Motion (MIM) programme will now be known as the MultiChoice Talent Factory South Africa (MTF South Africa) in line with MultiChoice Africa’s broader MTF programme.

About M-Net Magic in Motion (MIM) Programme

The MIM Academy was established in 2014 and has been instrumental in helping transform the South African film and TV industry by upskilling students and empowering them with substantial knowledge and experience. The MultiChoice Talent Factory Programme (MTF), which was launched in 2018 by MultiChoice Africa, does the same by upskilling the next generation of passionate young film creatives.

Like most learnership programmes, MTF South Africa is a 12-month long industry readiness programme that affords the opportunity to learn from some of the leading TV producers in the country while acquiring valuable experience in the directing, producing, cinematography, commissioning, art direction and many other skills.”

Why Apply For MultiChoice Talent Factory Programme

MIM has trained 58 students who are now making their mark in the video entertainment sector. Participants in this program have created around 16 Mzansi Magic films, and nine graduates have established their own production firms, namely A Tribe Called Story, Eccentric Circus, and Beyond Black.

Structure of MTF Programme

The MTF South Africa programme has three pillars:

MTF South Africa Academy – 1 year internship academy for university graduates from qualifying institutions who meet the academic qualifying criteria.

MTF South Africa Scriptwriting Incubator – 1 year programme for budding scriptwriters. This programme is not limited to university graduates.

MTF South Africa Bursary Programme – Full 1 year tuition for 2nd year or higher university students from qualifying institutions who meet the academic and the financial need qualifying criteria will be considered. Under consideration will also be national Economically Active Populations (EAP) targets

Who Qualifies For MultiChoice Talent Factory Programme?

  1. Internships only available to South African citizens
  2. Must have completed (in 2021/2022), a 3year Diploma / Degree in Film and TV or related qualification.
  3. Must have achieved a minimum of C + Aggregate

How to Apply For MultiChoice Talent Factory Programme

  1. Visit the official MTF application webpage and download the application form.
  2. Complete the MTF application form.
  3. Provide all the supporting documents listed below and
  4. Email the completed form and supporting documents, directly to: [email protected] by 28 February 2024 12pm. Quote the subject line: MTF South Africa Academy 2024 application

Required documents For The MTF South Africa Academy Programme

  1. CV – not more than 2 pages
  2. Personal motivation letter of not more than 500 words (why should you be chosen?)
  3. Copy of South African Identity Document – certified
  4. Copy of matric certificate – certified
  5. Copy of academic transcripts / Tertiary qualification Certificate – certified
  6. Confirmation of banking details – verified by bank with bank stamp and/or letter
  7. Proof of residential address

Important Information About MTF Academy Programme

  1. Applicants must ensure that all information included in their entry is valid and true.
  2. All applicant information will be subject to credit, criminal and verification checks.
  3. MultiChoice decision in the selection of the interns for the 2024 MTF South Africa Academy is final.
  4. MultiChoice shall not be responsible for any electronic system failure that results in any particular entry not being received for consideration.
  5. MultiChoice is not liable for the costs any applicant incurs during the process of their electronic application (example: airtime usage or payment at Wi-Fi café)
  6. Applicants are responsible for ensuring that all information which they include in their submission is valid and true.
  7. MultiChoice has the right to expand, limit, downscale and/or terminate the MultiChoice Talent Factory Academy at its discretion.
  8. Entry is limited to citizens of South Africa who meet the stated entry criteria.
  9. Previous MTF Academy interns are prohibited from being selected again.
  10. There is no guarantee of employment at the end of the internship.
  11. MultiChoice reserves the right to terminate any internship at any time.
